Why does my business not show up on Google Maps?

The local pack is where Saudi customers find clinics, cafés and contractors. Here is why a business drops out of it, and the fixes in the order that matters.

A business is missing from Google Maps for one of four reasons: the Google Business Profile is unverified or suspended, the name, address and phone number differ across the web, the category is wrong, or there is simply nothing on the profile that tells Google it is active. Fix them in that order and most businesses reappear within a few weeks.

When someone in Jeddah searches "dentist near me", Google shows three businesses on a map before any website. That box is the local pack, and being outside it is the most common reason an otherwise good business gets no calls from search.

Check the profile first

Search your business name with the city. If a profile appears but says "Own this business?", it has never been verified. If it does not appear at all, it may have been suspended, usually for a name stuffed with keywords or an address that is not a real premises. Claim it, verify it, and use the legal trading name as it appears on your commercial registration.

Make your details match everywhere

Google compares your name, address and phone number across your website, directories, social pages and delivery apps. Small differences confuse it: "Al Noor Dental Clinic" on Google, "Alnoor Dental" on Instagram, and a third spelling on the website. Pick one version in Arabic and one in English and use them everywhere.

Choose the right category

The primary category decides which searches you can appear for. A dental clinic filed under "Doctor" will not show for "dentist". Pick the most specific category that describes what you do, then add secondary categories for the rest.

Show Google the business is alive

  • Add real photographs of the premises, the team and the work. Profiles with photos get far more direction requests.
  • Ask customers for reviews and reply to every one, in the language it was written in.
  • Post an update every couple of weeks: a new service, opening hours for Ramadan, a before-and-after.
  • Keep opening hours accurate. Wrong hours are the fastest way to lose a review.

Then connect the website

A profile that links to a fast, bilingual website with the same address and phone number ranks better than one that links nowhere. Add a page for each service and each location, and mark the address up so search engines can read it. If you would rather someone did this for you, this is exactly what a local search retainer covers.

Ask it on WhatsApp. A person replies, usually within the hour during business hours, and the good questions become the next article.
